Three 45 minute sessions.
The students will read their book prior to coming to class. The students will use powerpoint to create a digital story on their subject. The students are to write the story as they are the subject (for example if they researched lions, they need to write the story as they are a lion or if they researched volcanoes they would write as if the volcano was telling the story.) The students will create a central idea that they want the reader to learn and then use details to support that idea. Also the student will have to search for images and cite them on their powerpoint. Finally, the student will record themselves reading their story and upload the recording to each story slide. When finished they will add their powerpoint to our Moodle Site. When finished the children will be able to listen or read each other’s stories and leave comments on them on our Moodle site.

MONITOR
Ongoing assessment(s): I will monitor the postings online to see if they are on task and communicating about their findings.I will note which students do not complete assignments. Accommodations and extensions: Students who are struggling navigating or posting can have a peer help them in the lab.If a student completes one story and would like to make an additional story they may. Backup plan: If for some reason that the computer lab is not available the students would complete their PowerPoint on laptops in the regular education classroom during small group centers.
EVALUATE AND EXTEND
Lesson reflections and notes: This lesson is an extension of our author’s purpose and main idea and supporting details lessons.I also want them to focus on using a voice and write the way their subject would sound.I also want the students to have some time to listen to and read each other’s stories to see if they can identify the central or main idea.
